India’s solar recycling industry is taking a decisive step forward. WOLFU is pleased to announce that our solar panel recycling plant in India has completed equipment installation and commissioning — and the line is now about to enter trial production. WOLFU is expanding global footprint for PV recycling solutions.

Why India, and Why Now

India has become one of the fastest-growing solar markets in the world. With new additions accelerating every year, the country is now confronting the first wave of retired and defective solar panels.

India’s E-Waste (Management) Rules already cover solar PV panels, and the Central Pollution Control Board has put an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) portal into operation. For Indian recyclers and waste management companies, building compliant solar panel recycling plant is no longer optional — it is necessary.

However, technology is a bottleneck. The EVA film that bonds glass, silicon cells and backsheet together makes end-of-life panels extremely difficult to be separated. Without an effective delamination process, sorting and metal recovery cannot run efficiently. That is exactly where the WOLFU solar panel recycling plant comes in.

Project Overview: Solar Panel Recycling Plant for an Indian Recycling Enterprise

The Customer’s Challenge

Before approaching WOLFU, the customer was evaluating several options for entering PV panel recycling. Three concerns dominated their decision-making:

Local operating conditions. The equipment had to run stably under local power supply conditions, with remote support available from the manufacturer.

Delamination efficiency. Mechanical crushing cannot separate glass, silicon and metals cleanly — the EVA layer keeps materials bonded.

Environmental compliance. Indian State Pollution Control Boards pay close attention to exhaust emissions. Any thermal equipment must be paired with reliable off-gas treatment.

The WOLFU Solution

WOLFU configured a pyrolysis-centered solar panel recycling plant – the WDL-T Series Continuous Mesh Belt Pyrolysis Furnace:

PLC + touchscreen control, with remote support. Allowing WOLFU engineers to assist with diagnostics and optimization.

Continuous mesh-belt pyrolysis. Crushed PV module fragments travel through multiple independently controlled temperature zones at constant belt speed, thoroughly decomposing the EVA encapsulant while preserving solid materials.

Sealed exhaust purification system. Pyrolysis off-gas is collected and treated in a sealed system, keeping emissions within compliance limits.

Integrated downstream sorting. After pyrolysis, multi-layer screening, magnetic separation and air-flow sorting separate glass, silicon, copper ribbons and aluminum for sale as secondary raw materials.

From Shipment to Trial Production: How the Project Unfolded

Process consultation & configuration. WOLFU engineers analyzed the customer’s panel types, target capacity and site conditions, then confirmed the equipment configuration and plant layout.

Manufacturing & quality inspection. The furnace and auxiliary systems were manufactured in WOLFU’s Luoyang factory, customer inspect it before shipment.

Shipment & installation. Equipment was delivered in modules and WOLFU’s engineering team went to customer’s factory for on-site installation.

Commissioning & trial production. The solar panel recycling plant is under testing of empty-load and load tests, temperature-zone calibration. And it is about to enter next step – trial production.

With all commissioning steps completed, the equipment is now in the final transition to official, continuous production.

What This Project Means

For the Indian customer, this new solar panel recycling plant makes the end-of-life PV panel into marketable products: glass cullet, silicon-rich fractions, copper and aluminum — which with established demand in India’s growing secondary raw material market. For WOLFU, this project validates our pyrolysis technology in one of the world’s most promising solar panel recycling markets. Following projects across domestic and other countries, India is now the new market where WOLFU’s solar panel recycling plants are moving from delivery to operation.

Looking Ahead

The line is expected to move into formal production shortly, and WOLFU will continue to provide remote support, spare parts supply and process optimization.

If you are planning a solar panel recycling project in India or anywhere else in the world, WOLFU provides full-process support — from process consultation and equipment selection to installation, commissioning, operator training and lifetime maintenance.
